Hi everyone. It’s
been a
very busy fall. The weather has been phenomenal until
late October.
Turned cold and wet just in time for Halloween. I built
a little 8’x
8’ garden shed. Sure comes in handy. Evys oldest sisters
granddaughter is a nurse in Hershey Pennsylvania. She
came to visit
last week. It was nice. Evy taught her some baking and
she helped me
plant the garlic. I spread a yard of sheep manure and 2
yards of
garden soil. Beth gave us dad’s old rottotiller and I
was able to
till the garden. Got the gazebo closed in for the
winter. I don’t
have a workshop or a garage so I keep my larger tools in
it. Jays
tried really hard but unfortunately came up short. Take
care and stay
safe everyone.

Halloween came and
went and as
usual no kids came looking for treats.
But better than
that we had
our family dressed up. We had a butterfly, a sailor a
witch, and a
funeral director. Its amazing what you can find in your
own house
to dress up as. The star of the evening was our grand
daughter, 3
year old Ember. She came as a mermaid and played her
part well. She looked at us strangely wondering why we
looked so different to
her and then laughed at us adults.
Tonight we are
having a snow
storm..not too much but it is our first. It feels too
soon for snow
but I guess you are never ready. The chickens don't mind
the snow
they just seem more excited. I'm picking up my new snow
tires
tomorrow. I decided to go studded tires this time. Zane
advised me
and he will put them on when we are allowed on the road
with studs.

From Carol
This week there was
a super
moon, I couldn’t tell the difference. The moon doesn’t
have a
perfect circular trip around the earth so at some points
it is closer
then other times. It was to have appeared about 14%
larger. When I
read about the moon moving closer I worry that at some
time it may
keep moving closer and closer and there goes the world.
When you
think about it we are in a very precarious situation,
clinging to
this tiny planet as it hurls through the vast cosmos. It
puts life’s
ups and downs in perspective.
This weekend is
another
Sharing Place. It is a free yard sale that was started
at Christ the
King by a woman who lived in the neighborhood. When this
lady moved
our church continued the program. When we amalgamated
with St. James
Rosemount there wasn’t room in their building to
continue but one
of the ladies went out and found us another church to
partner with to
continue. The donations come in for each of our
quarterly giveaways
come in more and more. I have no idea who these
wonderful donors are
but they are greatly appreciated.

From Doug
On
very
rare occasions we get invited out to dinner, and when
we do get
invited, it’s the same people doing the inviting. This
past
Wednesday we were invited to George’s house for dinner
again. We’ve
been there before. Actually it’s George’s people who
have us in
because George is their dog. The first time we were
there I had
inquired as to if they had cleared it with George and
she (Melanie)
replied that it was George’s idea. You see, he is a
very
opinionated little dude with a big personality. There
are very few
humans that he tolerates being touched by, I am one of
those
privileged people, I’m one of his favorite people and
he
practically turns himself inside out for me. In fact
when Melanie
takes him out for a walk and we run into them, she
just lets go of
his leash and he runs full speed to me.
So, we were there
for dinner
on Wednesday and it was a very nice evening. Melanie is
one of the
few people that Sue is comfortable with and that’s
important, and
they are aware of our situation. Mel and her husband
would be about
the same age our son is so therefore we are about the
age of their
parents.
Now
back
to George. He is probably the most spoiled dog I’ve
ever met.
He rules over them and gets whatever he wants, they
never had human
children so their dog is there ‘baby’. I had always
thought it
was Mel doing the spoiling but no, it’s Mark doing it.
He let
George get away with things that no dog should get
away with. You
know how people will sneak food to a pet at dinner
time? Well George
gets to sit on a chair at the table and be handed bits
of food as he
indicates he wants some by putting his paw on the
table. I don’t
have a problem with their dog at their table, although
I wouldn’t
let my dog do that if I had a dog but to each his own.
Dinner was
great and we had a very nice evening. And of course,
George tried to
run off with my shoes but he couldn’t get very far
because there
was really no where to go with them.

Up until now, Jane
and I have
only recorded 3 songs. All 3 were actually done a while
ago but I
hadn’t finished the mixing etc until about 2 weeks ago.
This is the
first song we recorded, but I’ve given them to you in
the reverse
order for no particular reason. This song is an early
Neil Diamond
song called Sunday Sun. (I had sent Rosemary a
preliminary copy back
when we were working on the song). It’s now as finished
as it will
probably get so I’ll share it with all of you. It is
very laid
back, as is most of our music. I guess it’s our style or
my playing
ability or whatever but everything we do comes out as
‘laid back’,
to the point where when asked what kind of music we do,
I tend to
reply “therapeutic music” because whenever anyone hears
us, they
tend to say it made them feel good. It works for me.
Regardless, give
it a listen and perhaps you’ll feel good too. You’re
welcome.
