Looks like tomorrow
will be a
big blow weatherwise. Heavy rain and big winds are
predicted. It
won't be great for Halloweeners. We haven't many who
come out our
way anyway. The kids know where to go to get the most
out there
efforts. Scotsburn houses are nice and close to each
other and the
people are extremely generous. So we are prepared with
treats but
we will probably be the ones eating them.
I remember as kids
we sure
knew where to go. And coming home with pillowcases over
flowing. Then the fun part was trading the goodies for
something better we all
had our favorites. Dad didn't believe in masks that
would make us
not see all that well.
He would paint our
faces so
the coast would be clear. We even won a contest one year
just for
our faces.
Happy Halloween
everyone!

From Carol
I
have always loved Halloween, maybe because this is one
holiday where
the only expectation is to enjoy yourself. I remember
my Grandmother
Brubacher always enjoyed this time of year. Like me,
when she was a
younger adult she enjoyed the parties and when older
loved the kids
coming o the door. I seem to recall a stuffed hay man
and sometime in
the evening, after everyone had prodded the hay figure
to make sure
it was fake, a person would switch clothes with the
stuffed man and
frighten the first to come into grabbing distance. I’m
not sure
this is a real memory but Wayne probably knows. I
bought my Halloween
candy so early I had to run out and buy more. (hey,
what can I say,
milk chocolate is one of the few things I can eat
without choking). I missed the last two Halloweens
because of being in hospital both
years. This year I can’t wait for the children to
start trick or
treating. Of course not nearly as many children go out
as in the
past, parents are worried about safety. No one gives
out the homemade
cameral apples or fudge anymore, which were my
favourite when I was a
child. When my own girls were younger I would often
bake cookies
Halloween night because some parents expected to get
cookie at my
door, obviously parents who knew me.
Saturday my
daughter, Jackie,
will be down for a 2 day visit. We don’t get to see her
nearly as
often as we wish but that is life. Hope all of you
enjoyed the kids
that came to your door and are having a wonderful
weekend.

From Doug
This has been a
fairly
difficult week and there really isn’t much I can or
should write
about. I do however have a song I can share with you
that my musical
accomplice Jane, and I, have recorded and is ready for
your listening
pleasure.
A few weeks ago I
included a
link to a song that Jane and I recorded, I think it was
‘The Way I
Am’, if memory serves. In that song I sang the lead
vocals so
therefore Jane accompanied me. Now, we have another song
for you but
this time she is singing the lead and I’m doing the
accompanying
vocals. She sings the lead in about half of the songs we
do, which is
only fair, but we have not had time to record much of
our playlist.
Our focus right now, when life lets us work on it, is to
add more
numbers to our playlist as there is a real possibility
that we might
end up playing up at the gondola this winter. Nothings
chiseled in
stone yet but there is interest there.
This particular
song is a
Beatles number called ‘Here Comes The Sun’. You all know
it.
Heck, even I sort of knew it even though its not a song
I’d have
thunk of myself. So, here’s your chance to hear Jane in
action.
Click this link and give it a listen.
