| Songs Of The
Doug My Version Of The Music I Like To Play |
|
One of the
things we do around here is sit around the living room playing our
guitars and other instruments, and harmonizing to our favorite songs.
Its just something we have always done, and it helps pass the rainy
days. I've been playing
with some recording software
on my Mini-Mac. Certainly comes off as 'home made' but here's the
results. I did not write any of these songs, these are simply my covers
of other peoples creations, my version and interpretation, my
arraignment. All you need
to do is click on one of the song titles below
and it will open a new browser page with a control bar in the middle.
If the song does not start to play automatically after a few seconds,
click the little 'play' button near the left side of the bar, you want
it to look like a small triangle pointing toward the right, just like
on an old tape recorder. These have been uploaded as MP3's, so playback
quality is reduced but download time is faster than what CD quality
would be. One suggestion, listen
through head phones if you have them, my computer speakers are
pretty crappy, as are most computer speakers, and the music through
them sounds equally crappy. Head phones or ear budds give a much
cleaner sound. For what its
worth, all the voices are me,
recorded on separate tracks, and all the instrumentation is me, laying
down each instrument separately, one at a time, just like I had to do
with the voices. So, if you are expecting something polished or fancy,
don't waist your time listening to these songs. If you want to hear me,
having fun with 'me', give them a try. One
thing I should
point out,
there are no 'special effects' on these cuts. No computer created or
generated sounds, everything is 'live', with simple multi-tracking and
some mild filtering such as reverb, nothing that could not be done
using normal amps and mics. Track volumes are balanced as much
as possible to make it work. Oh one more thing, as I've worked through
these, I've tried different things, including some electric guitar for
a bit more punch in some of the numbers. And thats about it. |
