Berry
Picking, West Coast Style
Aug. 2009
Warren, Janice & Bella on the quad. Thats Bella in the back looking the other way.
A view over Raffuse Creek to Sky Pilot and the other rugged peaks beyoned.
Everyone (except me) picking berries. The bushes are very dry but the berries were abundant.
Thats a view of Garibaldi that you don't usually see with the ice field to the east of the mountain visible.
A view of the Mamquam ice fields.
Picking berries. The best ones were in the shade of the young trees because they were able to retain some moisture. It has been a record breaking dry summer.
The berries, black and quite tart but very good.
Either a grey haired bear or the wife. Opps, its the wife :)
We drove the truck up to about a kilometer from the upper section (but still well below the rocky peak area) of the mountain. Couldn't get across any more of the cross ditches. The last several had been deep and steep but now they were deeper and steeper and the truck would bottom out so we parked at a spot where I could get turned around.
