Sunny Summer March 13/05
Up into the Mamquam water shed area below the glacier.
There were 4 of use on this run, Warren and Ben, Ryan and myself. Here are the bikes taking a break after a long loose climb over some ruff trail. The mountains in the background are on the far (west) side of the Squamish Valley.
The Mamquam Glacier spreads out to the north from the upper levels of the mountain. That is rugged country up there.
Same shot, zoomed back a bit to give more prospective. We are up in the drainage area of these snowfields, great country, great riding.
Looking a bit nore northerly, wouldn't want to get lost up there. The foreground has been logged at some point in the past, hense the trail we are on.
This is a shot of the 'far' side or back side of Mt Garibaldi. We see the west and south facing slopes from the Squamish area. This is the side that most people never get to see.
Most of these shots are taken from the same spot. Looking west we see the top end of Howe Sound through that tree in the picture, the Squamish Valley and even the peaks of the Chief to the left of the tree. They look pretty small down there.
More Mamquam Glacier, I'm standing on a different rock for this shot. No big deal.
Looking more northerly. This is twisted, broken land. Time has not yet smoothed and softened it.
There are our bikes again. Warren is climbing up to where we are taking pictures, he is not having a wiz even though it looks that way.
