Sept. 19/04

We went on a great bike trip up over the Indian Arm Pass. This took us from just north of the Chief here in Squamish to the head of the Indian Arm branch of Burrard Inlet near Vancouver.

In this picture we are following the Stawamus River as it winds below Sky Pilot mountain.

Here is an very old log bridge that has been totally overgrown by trees and moss. The Indian River is below, raging and swirling along. There is almost no trace left of the old logging road that the bridge would have been part of.

This is looking down stream, sort of south from that bridge.

Here we are at the head of Indian Arm, an arm of Burrard Inlet. There were seals swiming in the salt water as we enjoyed our lunch. A power boat ride from here (if one were available) could take us right into Vancouver.

This is looking down into some un-named river gorge along some un-named section of logging road.

This is the bridge I'm on, and here comes Warren.

That's my '86 Honda in front, Warren on his Honda. I'm not on my bike because I'm off to the side taking the picture.

The power lines are not that great to look at but the canyon is winding it's way north. In the background you can see Alpha and the Tantalus Range. What you can't see in the picture is how the canyon drops off just behind where Warren is standing, way down to the river.

Two bikes and our lunch bag. That round white thing above my helmet is a mirror. This bike is street legal. This trip, out to Indian Arm and back to where the truck was parked was about a 90 km round trip. We each used about half a tank of gas which is about a gallon each. Not bad for a half day of back road explorring.
