'Could have been a bit brighter out but it was still a nice day for a ride. We left Squamish and headed up through Whistler and Pemberton so we could ride over the Duffy and out into the Fraser Canyon area. First pic shows us pulled over at Duffy Lake to stretch our legs a bit. The wife and I are on our Harley, our son Ryan is on the '84 Virago.

Duffy Lake is worth a few pictures, but the pine beatle damage to the trees on the other side is a bit disturbing.

Very peaceful.

Here is where the road over the Pass starts to decend toward Lillooet. The grade is about 13% with tight switchbacks and curves. Road condition is poor all the way, with pot holes and sections that seem ready to fall away, so drive carefully.

Just another photo chance, but cameras just can't catch the real thing.

At Lillooet we turned south on #12 and followed the muddy Fraser down to Lytton where it is joined by the clear blue Thompson River. There are sections along #12 where the highway seems pinned to the steep bank, with a drop straight down to the river on one side and a climb straight up the mountain on the other.

The country side is a dry sandy soil with rock outcroppings. The mountain sides are open trees and clumpy grass as well as sage brush. Oops, someone doesn't like to have her picture taken.

From Lytton on down to
Hope we were on #1, the Trans Canada. We stopped at Hell's Gate
but couldn't get any worth while pictures. That whole section is
incredible and well worth the ride. The highway crosses the river
south of Boston Bar, so you have to cross back over to get into
Hope and onto the divided 4 lane leg into Vancouver. Traffic from
Abbotsford on into the city was very heavy and we had to keep on
our toes to avoid car drivers who didn't seem to care who they
had to run down in order to plow their way through.
