Quading Up Into Garibaldi, Below Brohm Ridge
Feb. 20/09

The sky was blue, the sun was shining strong and warm. The trails are packed by snowmobiles and stay hard enough for an ATV until that warm sun has time to soften them up.

This switch-back on the way up toward Brohm Ridge gives a great view out over the Squamish Valley and Howe Sound. Bowen and Anvil Islands as well as a bit of Vancouver Island are visible.

Thats the trail we came up dropping off below us.

A vew across the valley over to Alfa.

Thats Alfa on the right and Omega on the left with the backbone of the Tantalus Range in between.

The snowmobiles have left tracks all over the place, most places are areas that you simply could not go if there was not a cover of snow. The snow depth is actually very shallow this winter. There should be between 15 and 30 ft of snow up here and yet there is only about 5 on the ground.

A view of Alfa through a small bowl with Warren hiding in the shadows. We had taken snowshoes along and did a bit of wandering around through the trees.

We couldn't get up onto Brohm because the trail went down a very steep incline before it climbed back up and that incline was too steep for the quad to climb back up with its rubber tires on softening snow.
