Pemberton For
Lunch
June 3/10
|
Its been a long cold wet spring and there has not been many
opportunities to actually get out on the bike and go for an enjoyable
ride. Still have to bundle up in cold weather riding gear... However,
the sun was sort of breaking through the never ending clouds and for
the most part it was not raining, SO, I jumped on Big Blue and headed
up to Pemberton for lunch and to take some picks of the bike actually
out going some where. This first pic was taken out the north end of
Whistler at the pull-off by Green Lake.
Same pull-off but looking toward
the lake instead of the rock face There is still lots of snow on the
mountains.
This shot is at the lower Swift Creek lookout. That structure is
one of several tourist information kiosks that were placed along the
highway for the Olympics. Silly thing is, there was restricted access
to the highway and no chance what so ever for any tourists that heading
to or from Whistler to actually pull over and look at these things. Go
figure!
Same lookout, same spot that I've used for taking pictures of the
old bike(s) but now there is a stone guard wall instead of concrete
barriers. Again, part of the Olympic spruce-up.
More of the same!
This spot is south of Pemberton just before you drop down toward
the valley. Watch your step around those barriers because it is a long
way down to the river.
A good example of the highway just
above SUICIDE HILL, narrow and twisty and steep with a rock face on one
side and a long drop on the other.
