Along Howe
Sound
And Afternoon Ride, Oct. 21/10
|
The sun was bright and warm, the air was fresh and pleasantly cool. The
forecast was for several days of lesser quality weather moving in so we
decided to do a hot chocolate run into Horseshoe Bay. The wife was on
the back with camera in hand and snapped some shots along Howe Sound.
One thing visible in all these shots are the new barriers along the
highway that were installed during the re-build, to keep motorists from
going over the side. That's a good thing, for the most part.
This picture shows Anvil Island and
further beyond, the Sunshine Coast mountains.
Anvil Island is now to the right in
the picture and Bowen is on the left. The Sound is calm and perfectly
reflecting the blue of the sky.
The late afternoon sun is reflected in
the waters between Horseshoe Bay and Bowen. Vancouver Island is lost in
glare and some low fog out on the Straight of Georgia.
Same spot, the highway follows along
the mountain sides as it winds its way south.
We rode down into Horseshoe Bay where
we enjoyed a hot chocolate and chatted with the inevitable bystanders
who were interested in our bike, then did the easy enjoyable 50k ride
home.
