Squamish Toy
Ride
Sept. 19, 2010
|
Rumble To The Rock from Vancouver was supposed to take place along with
the Squamish Toy Run. However, The Rumble ride was rained out. The Toy
Ride went ahead as planned with staging taking place in Britannia. It
had been a very wet night and early morning but by staging time there
were only a few showers left. The Squamish Toy Run is not a big ride
but it is fun.
There were only a couple of dozen bikes but spirits were high. The
Squamish Toy Run does not enjoy much support from the local authorities
so we were on our own getting onto an riding up the highway. We rode
through Squamish on the highway and then turned into Brackendale, then
took the back way down to the Squamish down town.
Just some of us before heading up the highway. Thats a coffee shop in
the background that never seems to be open at logical times and has a
weird, hippy type menu.
Most riders could not decide whether or not to put on or take off rain
gear. Soon the sun would come out and all would be well with the world.
Riding down the main drag, clouds
breaking and sun coming out. Thats Ryan and I just ahead in the picture.
The down town was closed off for the bikes and for the local car club
which was holding a show and shine at the same time. We rode down
through the old cars to our parking area and then joined the crowd. The
dark heavy clould broke and the sun came out making for a warm and fun
afternoon.
It's cool when a town closes off it's
main street for special events. Quite fun.
One of the many neat old cars, most of
which were in perfect condition.
More cars parked along the street.
By mid afternoon the event was coming to an end. The clouds were moving
back in off the Pacific and it was time to head for home.
